From 1 – 12 November 2021, the UK will host the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow.

The COP26 summit will bring parties together to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

The UK is committed to working with all countries and joining forces with civil society, companies and people on the frontline of climate change to inspire climate action ahead of COP26.

How is Hitachi powering our low-carbon future

Temperatures are soaring. Storms are raging. And crops are failing. If we do not take this chance, every single one of us will be affected.

In 2015 in Paris, world leaders committed to a historic agreement to tackle climate change. They agreed to hold the increase in the global average temperature to well below 2 ℃ above pre-industrial levels and to pursue efforts to limit the rise to 1.5 ℃.
They also agreed to step up efforts to adapt to the impacts of climate change and to make finance flows consistent with a pathway towards low greenhouse gas emissions and climate-resilient development.

By completing and implementing the Paris Agreement we can show that the world is able to work together to tackle this crucial challenge and safeguard the environment for future generations.

Hitachi is proud to be a Principal Partner of COP26, playing our role in the decarbonisation of society and tackling climate change. Through our sponsorship, we want to contribute to the achievement of global goals to reduce environmental impact and ultimately help create a more sustainable future, through the power of Social Innovation.

Hitachi has several long-term environmental targets, including striving to achieve carbon neutrality at all its business sites by 2030 and to achieve an 80% reduction in CO2 emissions across the company’s value chain by 2050.

Hitachi has taken a socially responsible approach to business since its establishment in 1910, when our Founder defined the company’s corporate mission to ‘contribute to society through the development of superior, original technology and products.’

Now, more than 110 years later, Hitachi’s original philosophy remains a good fit with the way we run our business today.

Our Social Innovation Business is on a mission to power good in the world - combining information technology, operational technology and products to develop solutions to answer some of the world’s biggest challenges – and ultimately improve people’s quality of life.
