New High-Speed Fleet to Strengthen European Connectivity
As demand for fast, sustainable and seamless international travel continues to grow, high-speed rail is playing an increasingly important role in shaping the future of European mobility.
Against this backdrop, Hitachi Rail will supply 19 new high-speed trainsets to Trenitalia France, supporting the operator's expansion in France and across Europe, including the planned launch of services between Paris and London from 2029.
Bringing its most advanced expertise in high-speed rail technology to the project, Hitachi Rail will design the new fleet to meet the growing requirements of international rail travel, delivering high standards of sustainability, operational efficiency and cross-border interoperability.
Designed to operate across Europe's major high-speed networks, the new fleet will strengthen cross-border connectivity and support the increasing demand for international rail travel. The agreement also includes long-term maintenance and technical support services to ensure reliability and operational performance throughout the trains' lifecycle.
Combining advanced technology with enhanced passenger comfort, the trains will feature improved onboard connectivity, redesigned interiors and upgraded catering facilities. Sustainability is also a key focus, with the fleet expected to achieve up to 97% recyclability while reducing environmental impact through energy-efficient design solutions.
As Europe continues to invest in greener and more integrated transport systems, the project highlights the strategic role high-speed rail can play in connecting major cities, encouraging modal shift and supporting more sustainable mobility across the continent.
