EcoVadis is a third-party provider of business sustainability ratings that organisations can use to understand more about its sustainability performance and the sustainability performance of its suppliers.
Since its founding in 2007, EcoVadis has rated globally over 100,000 companies on its platform in areas covering Environment, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement.
Hitachi Rail has been rated as ‘Platinum’, scoring in the top 1% of businesses assessed (in our industry) by EcoVadis for their sustainability efforts in both 2022 and 2023. In our 2023 assessment we improved our overall Sustainability score compared to the previous year (81 points; 2022 with 79 points) with significant improvements across Environment (70 points; 2022 with 60 points) and Sustainable Procurement (80 points; 2022 with 60 points).
This ‘Platinum’ rating covering the global rail business unit displays our commitment to drive a sustainable business strategy that cares about the wellbeing of its people, the environment around us and the prominent role we hold in the decarbonisation of the transport sector.
