Hitachi Rail is transforming control room operations with its Integrated Supervision Solution (ISS) – a new digital platform that connects every stakeholder, with real-time data sharing and intelligent AI-powered tools to boost efficiency and enable collaborative working.
With ISS, critical functions are no longer confined to the control room. Everything is remotely accessible. The solution is built to adapt for all railway markets – including metros, main lines and trams – as you’ll discover at InnoTrans 2026.
Our new Integrated Supervision Solution provides full subsystem integration (including train supervision, CCTV, passenger information and SCADA) plus a wealth of new benefits:
Full situational awareness: our unified user interface provides teams inside and outside the control room with access to all the operational features they need – plus instant visualizations. For example, an ATS operator can view onboard video simply by clicking on a train.
Crisis management: control centers process a huge number of alarms. Intelligent alarm management helps operators to make sense of those alarms, no matter how many, while digital standard procedures provide step-by-step guidance for rapid incident resolution.
Access everywhere: control room functions (including incident resolution) can be remotely accessed on smartphones, tablets and laptops, so mobile workers – including station staff and maintenance teams – can solve problems together, just as if they were all in the control room.
AI Assist decision support: our new chat function transforms the way operators interact with the solution. You can write reports, gather KPIs or create complex training exercises in moments, all with easy prompts. You can even write and voice authentic passenger announcements using text-to-speech.
New visualization tools: 3D building information modelling – BIM – has been used in construction projects for years. Now Hitachi Rail is leveraging BIM datasets not only to fine-tune sensor deployment, but also to create powerful 3D visualizations for operators.
Traffic supervision: our new Automatic Train Supervision (ATS) solution provides automated command and control for metro, main line and tram operations. The solution is signaling agnostic and it features AI-powered analytics, including the ability to adapt traffic based on demand.
Staying with the topic of traffic supervision, we will also be demonstrating our new Traffic Management System (TMS). This is purpose-built for the high-speed and main line rail markets and it includes AI-powered tools to detect and resolve complex traffic conflicts – a game changer for operators.
Tramway solution: We will also be demonstrating Hitachi Rail’s Autonomous Tram GoA2+ solution, designed to enhance driver-supervised operations. It introduces perception-based monitoring, automated driving functions and real-time analytics, enabling more regular services, smoother journeys and improved network efficiency.
Passenger information, entertainment, crowd monitoring, violent event detection – these all play a critical role in passenger comfort and security. With our solution, you can provide these capabilities anywhere you need them – from the wayside to the moving train.
On the train: we deliver the full passenger experience package onboard with OBIF – our high-performance onboard integration framework. This uses the power of NVIDIA GPUs to handle AI video analytics, passenger information and more, backed by the latest generation of multi-bearer FRMCS/5G comms.
Train-to-wayside: connectivity is fundamental to passenger comfort and security. Hitachi Rail meets the need for reliable, high-capacity communications with FRMCS/5G multi-connectivity solutions – so everything that happens on the train is shared with the Integrated Supervision Solution.
HMAX™ integration: ISS and its underlying subsystems are fully integrated with HMAX for Rail, Hitachi Rail’s digital asset management solution. As well as enabling condition-based and predictive maintenance, HMAX transforms performance with AI-powered tools to boost reliability, availability and punctuality.
