Johan Crafford | Hitachi Rail

Johan Crafford joined Hitachi Rail in 2018 and was appointed Group Head of Internal Audit & Internal Controls in March 2026. In this role, he leads the global Internal Audit and Internal Controls (J‑SOX) function, delivering a value‑adding audit service that supports the achievement of Hitachi Rail’s strategic objectives within a strong and well‑controlled governance environment.

Since joining Hitachi Rail, Johan has held Senior Director roles with responsibility for Internal Audit and J‑SOX activities across EMEA, APAC and the Americas. He has extensive international experience, having previously worked with leading multinational organizations including Kingfisher PLC, Barclays and Virgin Media.

Originally from South Africa, Johan has been based in the UK since 2025. He is a Chartered Accountant (ACCA) and a Certified Fraud Examiner (ACFE), and holds a degree in Audit, Financial Reporting, Business Management and Tax from Stellenbosch University, South Africa.
