Interiors include a CCTV (closed circuit television) security system, with a WiFi connection for passengers, bicycle racks, folding seats and composite floor panels fully compliant to specific Florida and U.S. requirements and standards.
The trains have the following characteristics:
- Body structure in aluminium or stainless steel.
- Fibreglass or light alloy furniture with easily customisable layout and design.
- A propulsion system based on single or double IGBT inverter and trucks equipped with two motors for line voltages 750V, 1500V or 3000V.
- TCMS (Train Control & Monitor System) on Ethernet bus, integrated with PIS (Passenger Information System) with the functions of security, energy management and MVB bus dedicated to the functions of traction and braking.
Contract
The contract with Miami Dade County includes the delivery of 68 metro cars. The first two-car train was delivered from Hitachi Rail’s plant in Miami to Miami Metrorail in March 2017 and it started revenue service in November 2017.
