Every day, men across the UK face silent battles with their health - physical and mental - and too often, those battles are fought in isolation. Despite medical advances and growing awareness, heart disease, prostate cancer, lung cancer, bowel cancer, and suicide remain the five biggest killers of men.
This Men’s Health Week 2025, Hitachi is proud to be working in partnership with Andy’s Man Club (AMC) - a leading mental health charity that exists to break the stigma surrounding male suicide and encourage men to open up, talk, and seek support.
Over the next year, Andy’s Man Club will running a series of powerful presentations across Hitachi Rail sites - from our depots and manufacturing facility to the London office. These sessions are designed to create safe spaces for honest conversations, raise awareness, and help men recognise when they or someone they know might need help. Our partnership with Andy’s Man Club is also a powerful extension of our ManBassadors programme - a platform that equips colleagues across the business to speak openly about men’s health, share vital information, and signpost professional help.
“We are delighted to be working alongside Hitachi Rail this men’s health week to spread awareness around the issues facing countless men as they deal with their mental health. The rail industry has been a fantastic vehicle for us to get the word out there and as we deliver talks next week we are looking forward to reaching out to a new cohort of staff.” – Lucas Whitehead, Head of Marketing and Partnerships for Andy’s Man Club

ManBassadors are passionate about early detection, prevention, and saving lives through connection and conversation.
“I’m incredibly proud to see Hitachi Rail not only commit to the ManBassador Programme but also strengthen their impact through partnership with Andy’s Man Club. Together, they’re breaking down stigma, building peer-to-peer networks, and saving lives through something so simple, yet so powerful, conversation.” - Emily Pearson, Founder & Managing Director, Wellbeing Lead Academy | Creator of the ManBassador Programme
“The ManBassador Lead role for me is a platform to positively promote the importance of the crucial information regarding heart disease, prostate cancer, lung cancer, bowl cancer and suicide. The more people we can get to embrace the programme the bigger the chance of it helping someone be diagnosed early and/or even saving a life - through reaching out to talk, recognising symptoms or suggesting to seek professional help.” – Wes Mills, Manbassador Lead
As we mark Railway200 and celebrate two centuries of railway innovation, it's also time to look ahead - to a future where our people are supported not just professionally, but personally. Because the strength of our industry lies in the wellbeing of those who keep it moving.
