I am honoured to have been named the winner of the Strategy category in the WeQual Awards, Asia-Pacific 2023. WeQual exists to drive gender equality at the top of the world's largest companies. I'm very proud to be a part of this mission.

As with a lot of professional journeys, WeQual was unexpected and challenging, it was a great opportunity to learn new lessons in leadership.

The selection process gave me a chance to think back to my leadership journey as a female leader crossing the boundaries of gender, ethnicity, generation, and culture, and the intertwining challenges of being a daughter, wife, and mother to my own family, and a leader in my community, and how that made a difference in the way I led myself and my team.

Finally, it made me reflect that despite the seemingly overwhelming challenges of the past, present, and certainly in the future, value was created and will continue to be created as long as we acknowledge each other's uniqueness.

This is especially true as we face our ambition to grow our business globally. I am confident that, as our Hitachi Rail leadership team strive to be diversity champions themselves, we will attain success together.

I greatly appreciate Katie, Mark, Alison, and the WeQual team's unique passion and drive to attain gender equality as a business imperative! This award holds a special meaning for me, as it recognises my accomplishments and the efforts of all the people and teams I have worked with over the years, including my current fantastic team in Railway Systems.

Thanks to the leadership team in RSBU and, most significantly, to my own HR team, where in our daily lives we all portray DE&I in action!
